Electronic Warfare: LNA disables Quadcopter with new Starlight Drone Defender
Forces of the Libyan National Army has captured a quadcopter drone belonging to the Government of National Accord (GNA). The drone was disabled using a Chinese made Starlight Drone Defender portable anti-drone system. The country is currently engulfed in a drone war.
The portable drone system was developed by Shenzen Times Starlight Technologies Ltd. It is marketed as a long-range Multi-Band Anti Drone Jammer 2000 Meters, with a radio frequency output power of 25 watts,
Starlight Technologies explains that the TSL 2000 Meters Long Distance Drone Signal Jammer Gun, Drone Defender Anti Drone is specialized in interference and Suppression the common drones. It can be used to shoot down the harmful drones through RF frequency and GPS signal. With this jammer on, the Drone cannot enter the defense area.
The LNA is also using the Chinese-made DHI-UAV-D-1000JHV2 portable anti-drone weapon in a multilayered defense which includes kinetic (Pantsir-S, MANPADS, anti-aircraft artillery) and non-kinetic (COUNTER-UAS).
Unconventional forces uses drones during operations for surveillance or to deliver deadly payloads. All over the world, drone technologies are evolving rapidly and, not surprisingly, counter-drone technologies are as well.
