It is no secret that U.S troops are stationed in Cameroon nor in the region entirely. The U.S. military told the public that it will send troops and drones to help locate the missing 250 Nigerian Chibok girls who was kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorists. The U.S. contingents brought along a single predator UAV and a force of 80 personnel to N’Djamena Chad in May 2014.
On the heels of that deployment in Chad, another similar deployment was made in Garoua Cameroon in October of that same year after being approved by the then Obama administration. Likewise the U.S also have a drone and Special force base in Niger and Mali respectively which the former was opened on February 22, 2013.

With the current economic outlook in the USA coupled with the Trumps administrations new proposal to cut foreign aids both military and civil, it’s not yet clear what this means for all the military base sprawled around the African continent. Although, presently the U.S. is currently involved in  multiple counter-terrorism efforts Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Chad, Cameroon and a host of other countries in collaboration to defeat the violent Islamic extremist terrorist group Boko Haram. However, the runway in Djibouti airport serves as the operational hub for a massive U.S secret operations

Although, the Boko Haram originated from Nigeria, but four African countries are taking the lead in the fight with Nigeria spearheading the operations. The Cameroonian B.I.R is the most elite unit battling the Boko Haram sect from their own end of the area.
